Question of the Week by Ken Marriner
How many wing beats does a hummingbird have? Close guesses, but no cigar to
the table chosen. Answer: 25 beats per second the South American Hummingbird
has 200 per second. Is this a preview of the next administration’s weekly
factoid by Pres. Elect Ron Bott?!
Fines and Happy Fines
President Sean read a letter sent by Dist Gov. Klaus Hachfeld & wif to
President Elect Ron Bott, offering congratulations for the uccessful Concord Pops
Concert.
Ruth Armknecht was happy her granddaughter won a national writing contest.
The theme was Thoreau’s Civil Disobedience, as was guessed by Rev John Lombard.
Dick Hale was happy for his grandkids competitions: the 10 year old’s jump
rope competition in CT and the 17 yr old win in the javelin competition,
qualifying him for district competition.
Rich Edes was happy to be at the Pops with his son Andrew who stayed awake
the entire time. He gave a special tribute to Neal and Noel for the program.
Also for the picture of President Sean, some reference to a police mug shot was
mentioned.

Weekly Program
Assistant District Governor Suzanna Notti spoke about the upcoming conference
on May 2nd. She met earlier with Ron Bott, Doug Detweiler and Ann Trudeau to
begin the planning for the year ahead . She has enjoyed Pres. Sean’s year in
office, and said she enjoys coming to our Rotary meetings.
The Conference will have cribbage games, sumo wrestling and a Velcro wall to
name a few events on Saturday.
The Rotary International Conference is coming up and will be in Los Angeles,
California.
For a long time she has been asked to explain what Rotary is and she
describes it in this way: “This is an international service organization with 1.2 M
members in 200 countries, which changes and saves lives.” The Rotary
Foundation creates bridges and relationships through projects internationally in
building world peace and understanding. WOW! Impressive stuff!
New Member Bio/Classification Talk was given by John Frankiewicz. He’s been
married to a wonderful Armenian woman for 20 years and has 2 children, a son
14 and a daughter who will be 10 at the end of the month.
His hobbies are woodworking and photography although he feels that the
photography is mostly to take pictures of the kids. He was born and raised in
Vermont, went to college in Florida, and then moved to Massachusetts. His business
is insurance, dealing with health, life, disability, and dental benefits.
Raffle
The winning number was drawn by our speaker Suzanna…but alas, I did not see
who won! Congratulations to you, whoever you are!

Respectfully submitted,
